Tree City USA

The Town of Round Hill was designated a 2020 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. The Tree City USA program recognizes cities and towns with a commitment to preserving and promoting urban and community forestry. The program began in Nebraska in 1976 and has since expanded to include more than 3,400 communities across the United States.

Tree City USA status is achieved by meeting four core standards of urban forestry management:

  • The community must have a tree board or department
  • The community must have established a community ordinance for tree care
  • There must be a community forestry program with an annual budget of at least $2 per capita
  • The community must have an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

RHO serves as the Town's Tree Board and has been an invaluable resource in educating our local community on conservation, maintenance, and stewardship of Round Hill's natural resources.
