Southern Greenway Project

PUBLIC NOTICE (April 1, 2024) - There will be survey crews and boring crews along New Cut Road and Airmont Road over the next few weeks. These teams of Town Contractors are conducting field surveys to collect data for planning a future infrastructure project to build a 12-inch water line down New Cut Road and Airmont Road. They are also collecting data to design a future walking trail to connect residents to Loudoun Street.

The Town is currently in the design phase for these two critical projects. These projects should be constructed at the same time to lessen the impact on the community. The start date for construction is at a minimum June 2026 (start date is based on timing of funding, plans, permits and contractor schedules):

1) The existing water main south of the bypass is currently undersized with a 6-inch water line and difficult to access if repairs are required. To address this issue effectively and ensure optimal water distribution, maintenance, and repair accessibility, the Town plans to install a new 12-inch water line. This upgrade is essential for enhancing the reliability and functionality of our water infrastructure in that area.

2) The Main Street and Loudoun Street Pedestrian Improvement Project was completed in 2023. The next phase in the development of the Round Hill Trail & Sidewalk Network is to provide pedestrian connectivity along Airmont Road and New Cut Road. This project is called the Southern Greenway Trail.

During the design and construction of these projects, the Town will communicate updates to the Public on Facebook and the Town Website.

Town Staff is also compiling a master list of contact information for residents on New Cut Road and Airmont Road to include in updates. Please send an email to hwest@roundhillva.org with your name, property address, phone number and email address.
